Youtube and twitter is by far the biggest online video hosting and communicating websites. Their user user bases is massive. People use it for all kinds of things from promoting their own products to bands putting their music videos and daily lives on them.
People have actually got famous from youtube, hard to believe that you never have to leave your house and you can get famous but then so was waking up, checking your email and finding out you have being paid while you were sleeping (I’m talking about Paypal there!).
The internet is changing the way we do everything these days and youtube is another one of these free services that just keep on expanding!
You can actually have a pretty good design on youtube, much like twitter it allows you to design a background only it is far superior in my opinion as it allows you to change more options on the contents part of the page. You can make them transparent meaning the background will come through the content boxes more resulting in more of your design being visiible.
This feature is massive in my opinion as it doesn’t just look like you have put a background on it looks like a complete theme and like you have spent a lot more time on it. It gives it a more professional feel and you look unique.
If you have been using Twitter then you may of noticed that it allows you to have a custom background. Although this is very limited it does allow you to have a customised feel on your twitter page.
It’s not that good if you are viewing it on a small monitor / resolution but it’s better than nothing. You will often find the page looks a lot better on a bigger monitor / resolution but if a designer keeps in mind that it will look bad on a smaller monitor then they can design with the smaller monitor in mind. It should then look great on smaller screens and larger screens.
You can have your design spread far and it will be visible on larger screens and smaller screens. You will just see a lot less of the design on a smaller screen so it’s important to get the key points small enough to be viewed on all screens and positioned so it will be seen regardless of small screens.
